NFL DFS: Week 8 Alternate Storylines

We hit .500  with our alternate storylines last week. If you listened last week, you made money off of playing Ezekiel Elliott and got on a Blake Bortles to Allen Hurns or Marqise Lee stack. The TEN-CLE game definitely didn’t shoot out and I’m not sure TY Hilton was in the stadium last week, but that’s an alright hit rate for these alternate storylines. This article each week isn’t designed for cash game plays, it’s a way to rethink some of the narratives you’re hearing to find some plays in GPPs. With that, let’s hit Week 8.

AJ Green Doesn’t Go Off

The Bengals are 10.5 points favorites over the Colts. Based on the fantasy industry right now, AJ Green, Joe Mixon, and Andy Dalton are all going to go off as they represent three of the top five tagged players this week. We aren’t that far removed from the Bengals offense being a laughing stock but we’re ready to say that they’re going to support that much fantasy production? Don’t get me wrong the Colts are awful, like truly awful. But there’s a shot that the touchdowns go elsewhere and AJ Green sees somewhere around 7-8 targets. With that volume, he doesn’t pay off value. A fade of him in some GPP lineups is definitely in play this week.

The Patriots Beat the Chargers by 15+

This would be ideal for a game stack in the LA-NE game. Tom Brady stacked up with any of his pass catchers can do damage, but the further they pull away the better Melvin Gordon and Keenan Allen do on Sunday. There’s a real chance that Gordon sees double digit targets if the Chargers fall behind early. That’s the script you want with him because he hasn’t exactly been an efficient runner so far this year.

2016 Matt Ryan Shows Up

Everyone in fantasy talks about “buying low” right? I’m always in when I can get a talented player at a lower price and/or lower ownership. You get both with Matt Ryan this week. If someone told you that you could roster Matt Ryan under $7k and at low ownership against the Jets in August you would’ve locked it in right then. This is dubbed the “If Not Now, Then When?” spot for Matty Ice. Stack him up with Julio Jones or Austin Hooper and count money this weekend.
